3 ways to help your makeup stay all day..

The downside to the warm weather, makeup doesn't always like to stay put..

I thought I'd do a quick post on how I keep my makeup lasting as long as possible on the humid days we like to call summer. If you live in the UK or more specifically in the North, you'll know we've had like two, maybe three days max so far of nice weather. Last week we had a barbeque and sat out all night laughing, playing swing ball, and making the most of the ever changing weather.

I did however under estimate the heat and had skipped a couple of steps which I know would've helped my makeup to stay put that little bit longer and survive the heat.

These are my three tips on keeping your makeup in place that extra while longer which can make all the difference when you're out socialising with friends because, well nobody likes sliding brows, do they?

First up is prime prime prime.

This should be your first step when doing your makeup and an important one if you want it to last. Lately I've been using Laura Mercier Radiance Primer to prep the skin but also to keep at as luminous and hydrated as possible underneath my makeup. Not only should your foundation sit better on the skin when you've primed, but it should also stay in place for longer too.

Next up is powder.,

Not everyone likes to powder over their foundation which is personal preference, but I find that even just a light dusting can help to set my makeup so that it doesn't start to slide around my face when I get hot. I'm also guilty of unintentionally touching my face without realising when I have makeup on, so using a powder means it doesn't move as much when I do this. If you want to keep the skin looking glowy on the cheek bones, tip of nose etc, and that's what puts you off powdering, then try powdering the outer parts of your face and then using a powder highlight to set the cheekbones and nose. That way you can still look glowy and won't feel as though you have a completely matte face from powdering. As you can see my favourite Laura Mercier Pressed Transluscent powder is on it's way out! I also love the Rimmel Match Perfection for a cheaper alternative..

My final tip would be a setting spray.,

This is the main step that I always forget when doing my makeup, but I notice it makes such a difference when I've actually done it. I use Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray and it works like a charm at keeping my makeup in place. You don't actually need that much of this either so I find it lasts me ages, just 3-4 spritz all of my face and I'm good to go.

I hope you enjoyed this quick little post, if you have any other tips for keeping makeup in place please leave them below in the comments as I'd love to know!

*Side note - brow gel is a must in the summer, my brows definitely ain't loyal without it!
**Another side note - my inconsistency has been due to being very poorly over the past couple of weeks.. But I'm feeling better now :)
