3 ways to beat the January Blues..

I don't know if it's just me, but once Christmas is over, I can't help but feel slightly deflated that the excitement has all passed. Well, I'm saying deflated, my jeans tell a different story..

That feeling of being able to over indulge because it's the festive season has come to an end and we are suddenly left with tight fitting clothes, and what seems like a million years until next Christmas. I thought I'd put together a quick post for anyone else feeling like they've got the January blues, and a few ways to overcome them.

First up, book a holiday. Yes, it's easier said than done, but the good thing about a lot of holidays is that they don't need paying off in full immediately. Booking a holiday now will instantly give you something to look forward to, as well as a check point to set some goals by, whether that be financial or health related.

Next, set the goals. So you've booked the holiday and it could be that you'd rather not be strapped for cash when it comes to getting there, or you want to be more confident in yourself. Whether you're holiday is for in a months time or in 6 months time, start now by giving yourself a goal and writing a list of changes you're going to put into place in order to achieve said goal. I love buying a new organiser in January to write any goals down and to try and stay organised throughout the year. Even if it's not a holiday, a night out with the girls, your cousins wedding, any sort of event can be a great excuse to set some goals into place. Plus, it's a lot less cliche than having a million New Years resolutions.

Finally, pamper yourself. Christmas time is focused on giving to each other, our families and friends, so now it's time for some you time. This doesn't have to be a spa day with hot stone massages, it could be something as little as getting your eyebrows done, putting on a face mask, or even just painting your nails. Doing small things like this I find can be really therapeutic and still feels quite self indulgent, minus the 600 calories.

These are just a few things I like to do in January in order to stay focused and positive about the year ahead. I booked a holiday to Iceland recently for the end of the month, I can't wait! If you have any other tips or suggestions on how to stay positive in January please leave them in the comments so we can all have a read!

  1. I love this! I'm majorly suffering from January blues and I'm happily wishing away this month. Hopefully February will be a bit less dull and grey! :) xxx
